Postcard messages written by Sandy
MESSAGE GUIDELINES
Use simple, heart-felt messages that encourage voters to mark their ballots for Progressive Democrats when voting in Washington state’s general election on November 6th. Politics is personal, make your messages personal, if possible!
The message ideas below are for general Get Out the Vote postcards. If specific candidates’ names are used, the Washington state Public Disclosure Commission rules will require Postcards4wa to report any postcards mailed as an in-kind donation to a political campaign. We will be updating this page with special instructions for writing postcards in support of individual candidates, after the primary election results have been finalized. Please wait to begin writing postcards for the November election until we send you an email.
MESSAGE IDEAS
You could write about issues that will impact you or your community. For example:
Dear Voter, Your vote is important! Of the People, By the People, For the People, only works when We the People VOTE! Let’s support Progressive Democrats on 8/7/18 and 11/6/18.
Dear Voter, After the last election, I realized that I had been taking freedom and our quality of life for granted. I joined an Indivisible group to get involved at the local level and hence this handmade card. We know, when We Vote, We Win!
Dear Voter, Let’s VOTE 8/7/18 and 11/6/18 with Progressive Democrats. Take back our government from the 1%. Protect Social Security, the EPA, the poor immigrants, the ACA, Vets and our Constitution.
Dear Voter, Vote for Progressive Democrats on 8/7/18 and 11/6/18 to protect our Environment and fight Climate Change. I am and hope you will, too!
Dear Voter, Hello, my name is Barbara. I am a daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother. I am asking you to please exercise your right to vote. It is important that your voice is heard. Thank you!
Dear Voter, Your vote is essential toward the restoration of our government’s commitment for the well-being of all our people, and to safeguard our life-sustaining environment. Please vote for progressive Democrats August 7, 2018 and November 6th, 2018.
Consider writing a message that relates to artwork on your postcard. WIN member and artist, Lisa, designed a message to correspond with her beautiful postcard design:
Short, personal stories are particularly effective. Marcia wrote this wonderful message. Do you have a story you want to share?
Dear Voter, This postcard is a picture of a collage I did as a tribute to my parents who were passionate Democratic activists. They taught me to never cross a picket line, to march for the ERA and Civil Rights and to vote as soon as I could. When I was 3 they took me to the top of the Statue of Liberty and told me how their families had left poverty and persecution behind to come to the USA. My mother stuck her head out of a window in the crown and her big picture hat flew off into the wind. Free as a bird. So are we! Let’s keep it that way. VOTE for REAL Democrats August 7, 2018 and November 11, 2018.
And, an inspiring story written by Mandy:
My Dear Voter,
Back in the 60’s my ex and I joined the “War on Poverty in Breathitt County, Kentucky, and here we are today with millions of homeless and a shrinking middle class. They’ve stripped away the protections put in place after the Great Depression so that banks, corporations and the 1% are the only ones prospering. I BEG you to VOTE in the primaries and November elections for DEMOCRATS, and toss out all these “Do Nothing” legislators. Thanks, Susan
Karyn will be using these powerful quotes in her postcard messages, along with some personal text:
